The LX Transformation is kicking into gear but as it’s a phased program, some courses and subjects won’t start to make the move to Canvas for a year or so. That doesn’t mean you can’t make improvements to your subject now.
Here are some tips for what you can work on now:
1. Chat to your Course Director about your ideas
The LX Transformation is using a course-led design approach, so when your subject’s time comes, you will be collaborating with other subject coordinators in the course to make some decisions about it. Your first step should be to check in with your course director about the vision for the course, and how your subject fits in.
2. Look at your student feedback / gather analytics
Think about which areas of your subject delivery are getting the best responses and what may be a priority to make changes to in the short term.
3. You can still produce videos and host them in Kaltura
Talk to our LX.lab media team to get some help and advice for producing concept or welcome videos.
4. Do a Marie Kondo
We’re not migrating subjects – rather re-creating them in Canvas – but it makes sense to have the best version of your subject in UTSOnline. For your current students of course, but it also will stand you in good stead when it comes to deciding what activities and resources should move across to Canvas when the time comes.
5. Come in and chat to the LX.lab team about ‘future-proofing’ your subject.
We don’t want your subject to stop evolving in the meantime, but we can advise you on what will translate easily to Canvas and what you should maybe hold off doing for now. Visit the LX.lab to come to a drop-in, or make an appointment with one of our team.
6. Assessment policy compliant
You might remember that the UTS assessment policy got an update in 2017. You can read the full details of the update here, and get further advice from IML if required. This is a great time to make sure your assessments are fulfilling the requirements of the new policy.
