In this short video (6 minutes) UTS award winner Julia Prior talks about her approach to teaching in the Software Development Studio. She acknowledges that the receipt of a number of learning and teaching grants enabled her to research the pedagogy of group work and to develop a community of like-minded educators who support the work of the studio. The Software Development Studio uses an apprenticeship model with industry partners, where students work in agile teams to develop real software products. The experience is an authentic one with a focus on the development of team work. As Julia points out in the video – the main focus of the assessment is the team work, and students are encouraged to give constructive and useful feedback to their fellow team members.
