The UTS Tech Festival is back this year from 19th to 30th June, with a broad range of events on offer for students, staff, industry professionals and tech enthusiasts. Choose from hackathons, tech showcases, workshops, competitions, networking events and much more. Below we’ve highlighted some of the events open to all – head over to the official UTS Tech Festival website to view the full program.

Student Showcases

The opportunity to discover the excellent work of UTS FEIT students is a huge part of the festival. We recommend heading out to one or more of the showcases to meet the students and see their projects in action.

Animal Logic Academy Screenings

Come along for a retrospective screening of animation projects created by the UTS Animal Logic Academy students. A highlight will be the Sydney premiere of the most recent 3D animated film ‘Corrupted’. This event will celebrate the highlights of 7 years of lively and engaging projects from the Master of Animation and Visualisation course at UTS.

NVIDIA: Emerging Technologies for Data Visualisation

This event features NVIDIA industry leaders Tomasz Bednarz (Director, Strategic Researcher Engagement – APAC and EMEA) and Johan Barthelemy (PhD Developer Relation Manager, Asia Pacific South). Get the latest insights on what’s happening in the exciting and important field of data visualisation, directly from the experts.

Microsoft: Empowering Women in IT

Renee Noble (Cloud Advocate for Microsoft) and Elizabeth Pappalardo (Microsoft Community Manager, APAC) will help you to learn the tech and career skills to put your best foot forward when applying for jobs. You’ll build a custom website for your resume or portfolio so you can discuss your skills while showing real-life clickable proof to back it up.

WXSTEM Lego Competition

This opportunity for Lego enthusiasts is hosted by WXSTEM, a UTS student society that promotes community focused support by enabling equitable experiences for women and non-binary (NB) people in STEM. Contestants will build challenging, tech related objects chosen from a generator (e.g. robot, computer) within a specified time limit.
