From Monday 31 July until Friday 4 August, the LX.lab and partners will be discussing all things generative AI. With events covering accessibility, student perspectives, tips for teaching with AI and much more, there’s something for everyone.
Generative AI (GenAI) has recently become more widely available and is impacting higher education, raising questions about the future of learning. Within UTS, conversations about GenAI cover assessment, integrity, its role as a learning tool or administrative aid, and how humans’ roles will change in the workplace. To address these discussions and provide support, AI x L&T aims to create a visible forum for connecting individuals with similar ideas and challenges, reducing anxiety and facilitating informed action.
Monday 31 July
Start the week by imagining the future of assessment, then consider the role that AI might play in enhancing accessibility for students.
Tuesday 1 August
Join experts from the UTS Australian Artificial Intelligence Institute to talk large language models (LLMs) and responsible AI, then explore the intersection of generative AI and its impact on education.
Wednesday 2 August
Reflect with Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education and Students) Professor Kylie Readman and a panel of UTS leaders on experiences of the emergence of GenAI, then reflect with academic staff from around UTS.
Thursday 3 August
How can students think critically and evaluate GenAI outputs? Join UTS librarians for this workshop and learn how you can support your students to become discerning consumers of information. Then watch staff and students battle it out in a debate to decide the future of learning at UTS.
Friday 4 August
On the final day of our week of events, discover the student experience and perspective on GenAI with a panel of UTS students.
