Welcome back to another wrap-up for our community of practice for educational media at UTS. In this meet-up, an insightful pair of case studies covered topics such as filming role-play video using Zoom and the use of OnTask for providing automated video feedback. Below are the recordings and a quick recap for anyone who missed out.

Mastering psychological skills in a digital classroom with role-played videos

Our first presentation was from Maryann D’Sa and Tandarra Rothman from the Learning Design and Technology Unit. They spoke about creating a role-play video using Zoom for the Graduate Diploma of Psychology subject Society, Psychological Health and Wellbeing. For more information on this project, read this blog post and get further insight with this Quality Framework about Authentic Assessments.

As mentioned towards the end of the recording, here are some additional resources for creating your own videos in Zoom:

Belonging, automatically: video feedback to boost engagement

Our next presentation was from Senior Lecturer Keith Heggart, who spoke about providing video feedback – automatically! This was achieved through using OnTask, a personalised messaging system. For more information on OnTask, visit this website, or contact Lisa Angelique from CIC. You can explore this case study further in this article by Keith.

Interested in video feedback, but don’t feel the need to do it automatically? Check out the video feedback feature on Canvas, which we covered in a previous meetup.

Thanks to our speakers for sharing their knowledge, as well as everyone who attended the event. Don’t miss out on our next video meetup. Our 20th event will be on 21 November, which marks the fifth year anniversary of UTS Video Meetups! Register below.
