Plan your subject site

When using modules, it is helpful to think of your subject site as a textbook. Each module is a chapter with an overview, content, activities, reflections, and a summary. Each page is provided in a sequence for students to work through, though in the LMS you can add in collaborative aspects as well, such as discussions and prompts.

There are many ways of thinking through to plan your subject site. In this 8-min video, we show you two frameworks which looks at a planning a subject site at both at a macro and micro level.

Consider having a peer review your plan, to see if there are any gaps or blind spots before you begin to implement it for your subject site.

You should also review your plan for the following considerations:

• Is your content accessible and inclusive of everyone in your cohort?
• Is there a good balance of activities across your modules? Have you estimated how long it will take for students to complete these activities?
• Have you identified the key tools or technologies you will use in your subject site? Have you outlined how would you scaffold the use of these tools or technologies in your subject?
• Have you checked the copyright status of your readings and resources? Have you considered including open educational resources?
