All blogs require an illustrative feature image, while images used within the blog should work in context with the main blog text – there is no need for decorative images within the blog itself.
The feature image that runs across the top of the page is decorative and matches the theme/content of the blog. Aim for something simple, colourful and eye-catching. The LX.lab editorial team have access to UTS-specific images and can help with your image sourcing and selection.
You may have your own preferred image resource or collection. Remember to always check the site or resource that you pull the image from for information about crediting the source.

To add your image, click on ‘Featured Image’ in the column on the right-hand side of the page.
Click ‘Update’ and then ‘Preview’ to check that the feature image is the right choice for the published version.
Credit your image at the end of the blog, using small (13 point) text:
You might choose to add inline images in your post to support your text. Avoid using visuals for the sake of it; they must be integral to the main text.
Keep images to a minimum – if there are more than a couple of instructional screenshots, this indicates that the blog might be better suited as a resource.
Use the ‘Image’ block, which allows you to upload an image file, pick one from your media library, or add one with a URL. You can also select ‘Video’ or ‘Embed’ here to display media.
Once added, you can include a short caption.
Alt text tags should be added to images to ensure your post is accessible to all users, including people who use screen readers – the editorial team will take care of alt text tags as part of the proofing process. Alt text can be added in the Alt text field under Image Settings:
