Would you like to apply for a UTS or national teaching award? Do you feel you are ready for promotion and wondering how to build your case?

In this second of the series of four short workshops we will focus on developing and telling your story in a clear, succinct and engaging way.  We will focus on:

  • Helping you identify the strengths and distinctive features of your teaching to focus on in your case
  • Practising a “pitch” to articulate your ideas and get feedback from colleagues
  • Developing a narrative around your claims

Pre-work for the session

Before the session, you’ll need to do some pre-work. If you’re planning to go for promotion or an award, find the relevant criteria.  Then prepare a draft one-minute pitch.  Imagine you’re introduced to the Chair of the promotion or awards panel at an event.  They ask about your teaching (and they don’t know that you’re an applicant). You have one minute to create a good impression.
or
It’s the Learning and Teaching showcase and you’ve won an award.  You have one minute to tell everyone why.
