Intermediate. Prior knowledge Canvas is required and knowledge of how to manipulate spreadsheets (csv file) is desirable.

Who should attend this session?

All academic and professional staff are welcome to attend.

What will you learn? 

You can create student groups in Canvas to facilitate collaborative learning. Once groups have been created in Canvas, students get access to online group spaces on your Canvas Course site to collaborate on group tasks and assignments.  You can also assign groups to discussions and assignments.

In this 1 hour session, you will learn how to:

  • set up and manage student groups  in Canvas
  • communicate with student groups
  • create and assign group activities (for example, a discussion, an assignment).

Casual academic program

The program is open to UTS casual academics who are teaching in Spring session 2021. You are invited to participate in up to TWO of these online professional development workshops and be paid for your time*. Please note that there are caps on some workshops.  

 *Paid places are at the Other Academic Activity non-PhD rate of $49.47. This is a professional learning opportunity, not a teaching activity.  

Please note: Staff who are in full-time or fractional academic employment at UTS in addition to their casual academic contract are not eligible for payment.
