At UTS we’ve brought together a group of experts in the fields of science, education, health and policy to explore what the world will look like in three months, six months and one years’ time. And how long we might be dealing with the effects of COVID-19.

Professor Michael Wallach, School of Life Sciences, UTS

Dr Lisa Sedger, School of Life Sciences, UTS

Professor Phillip Hansbro, Chair of Inflammation, School of Life Sciences, UTS

Our first Life after lockdown event will bring together three global experts in the fields of inflammation, respiratory illnesses, virology and infectious diseases. Together, they’ll dissect the current global charge to find a vaccine against COVID-19 and how governments can begin to relax social distancing measures while continuing to minimise the spread of the virus.

Professor Wallach, Dr Sedger and Professor Hansbro are all part of global research efforts to discover new treatments and other barriers to prevent the transmission of the virus. These treatments which will be key to our fight against COVID-19 and will be at the forefront of the discussion. We will also explore the current landscape of research investment in Australia. Will COVID-19 serve as a wake-up call for governments to invest more money into research that better prepares us for future infectious outbreaks? Or is COVID-19 just the beginning?

Register here to attend.
