  • Level 2, Room 5. UTS Business School (Building 8)

Hear from Troy Hunt, creator of Have I been Pwned?, Microsoft Regional Director for Australia, and data breach expert, as he explains how and why data breaches have become the new normal. Data security is not just important at work, it’s also a crucial part of managing and protecting your digital identity and wellbeing.

Space is limited so register now at RiseOfTheBreaches.uts.edu.au.

Troy Hunt will share his experiences dealing with billions of breached records, and explain what motivates hackers, how they gain access to data, and how organisations deal with the aftermath of an attack.

As a university, we deal with sensitive and confidential data daily – including financial and health records, research material, and student data. This is a great opportunity for staff to understand what a data breach looks like, what to do if and when it happens, and how to defend against them.

Data literacy is a cornerstone of the UTS 2027 strategy. As members of the UTS community, we must all become responsible custodian of our data. Attending this one hour presentation is a great step to better understanding the role that data plays on a personal and global scale.
