CYP450 Enzymes

I have placed a few questions I had about specific section, regarding what else I should add, etc. Any advice would be appreciated :))

  • Thanks to everyone who helped out with feedback!
Great points made, and I now know exactly what needs to be fixed.

  • Amazing job Ayden, your draft looks fantastic. The layout is great, I love the nomenclature box!
In your variations section maybe you could add a bit about what genetic variations in CYPs mean for drug metabolism between different people?

Remember to keep your blog in layman’s terms, would your neighbor understand what reactive iron-heme groups are?

Don’t forget to add your references to the final copy!

  • Hi Aydan,
I agree with up the earlier comments, the layout is really good and the information is to the point, which is what you want with a blog. I also agree that some of your terms need to be defined. In regards to the other phases, you can mention it if you feel it helps address some information you are going to add later on. However, if it’s not required then don’t worry about it and focus on addressing the areas outlined in your topic. I like the direction you are going with this blog, and I hope it turn out well.

  • There is a lot of good information here, with conversational language and explanations. The side column explaining the nomenclature of naming CYP is excellent

  • Explaining what the technical terms should be in simpler forms, while the blog has very engaging maybe a few more images and to help with the “How do these enzyme actually work?” section would be nice to see.

  • I looooooove your formatting – it’s immediately so bright and eye-catching!

You’ve used a couple of unexplained terms that are a bit too science-y in my opinion, like “reactive iron-heme groups”, “functional groups” etc.

I’d only go into an explanation of the different phases of drug metabolism if you think it’s going to add anything else to your explanation of CYPs – don’t clutter your nice blog with unnecessary extra info! 🙂

  • Information on CYP does stand out to a person without any knowledge, which is good and the way you used current stats of the population shows how much you researched.
The display of information is well designed and easy to read.

  • Great use of layout, columns, colours and images. Very easy to read and follow and the colours work with each other very well. I definitely think including something about excretion would be useful to give the whole picture. I love the inclusion of the nomenclature box.

Not sure whether you have finished but that massive gap on the second page would obviously need something there but I think you know this based on everything else you have done.

Simplifying your first sentence would definitely need to be done in order to grab the audience instead of making them confused and not continuing on to read.

  • This looks really good. The first thing I’d suggest adding is a short-ish sentence right at the beginning explaining the purpose/mechanism of CYPs in the simplest way possible – just because in your first sentence there’s a lot of more technical stuff before you get to their overall purpose. I think your layout looks fantastic, I especially like the CYP nomenclature box. In the section “How many variations are there?” you could go on to explain what is different about them besides their genetic sequence – e.g. what they metabolise, or maybe include some “fun fact” more interesting CYPs if you have any, haha 😛 I think when you’re talking about metabolism you have a good amount of information – you could include a direct link to drug excretion to sort of “tell the whole story” and show where CYPs fit in. Overall it looks fab and your content is great, well done!

  • Great colours! Very informative but also straight to the point. The layout is also on point.
