  • Hi Shazia,

Very good draft on topic 25, I really liked the Jusrassic park theme reference. The information present in the blog is really informative, (just my personal preference) I would suggest adding a bit of spacing between the lines just so that the information doesn’t look as crowded. Also try filling up the space in the top right hand corner on the second page with either an image and also remember to add a small description under each image just so the reader knows what it means. Apart from that you have referenced and cited everything which is really good.

    Best of luck! 🙂

  • Very solid draft shazia, perhaps think about linking the images more solidly to the text provided, it would make for a more succinct layout. Great job with design

  • Love the references, colour and layout. I would suggest editing the style of writing as it is supposed to be understood by the general public, so the info should be easier to understand.

  • There are a lot of great elements in this blog. Love the layout, colour and flow. I do feel like the treatment at the bottom layout does not match the rest of the blog and you can make the flow chart for the classes and the symptoms smaller to make it look less squished. I would recommend different colours/fonts to spice up the blog. Where possible, less scientific jargon would be great. Your referencing seems good. I would assume you will fill in that white space hopefully with an engaging photo accompanied by text. Good luck!

  • Hi Shazia,
    A good blog, some comments:
    1) your intro suits a casual style of blog, however the later sections are very formal and scientific. This can interfere with reader engagement and large chunks of text do not draw the reader in.
    2) try to visually convey as much as you can rather than relying on text, this will reduce the wordiness of the blog.
    3) you have in-text citations for some pieces of information but not others.

  • Very good idea with the layout, and the opening is easy to understand!
But then it contains too much scientific jargon for a blog. I would try to form simple sentence and you should explain the scientific jargon as simple as you can.
On your second page there is a white area not used, that is a bit confusing, I would try to reorder your second page, that this area is gone. You referenced very well! I only would reference your pictures directly under the picture.

  • The blog had an approachable feel to the writing style and layout, as the simplification of the technical information was done well. Differentiated the different insects and their venoms well.

  • The blog was overall easy to understand and follow, I liked the way everything flowed together and the images. maybe for the ‘imagine this’ section maybe theres a way of making it stand out more, maybe different font or layout, as it just looks like more info. The flowchart of symptoms was a good addition, awesome job Shazia! 🙂

  • I like the way your blog flows, particularly the use of illustrations to match the text. Very good referencing. Just one question- is that blank space meant to be there on page 2? Is there some way you can fill it in (e.g. with a “fun fact” or another relevant image)?

  • Great work explaining the order of organisms and providing flow diagrams to help the reader follow on. Might want to fill in that white space with a diagram or more info, excellent reference to Jurassic Park and awesome figure of the Hymenoptera! Perhaps you should tone down the scientific jargon a bit as readers may find it difficult to understand some of the information. Overall, awesome job!

  • Excellent reference/analogy to Jurassic Park to draw the reader’s attention. I like how you explained the Greek origin of the name to help the reader’s understanding of the order of organisms, however some may get lost over the word ‘ovipositor’ (perhaps explain it?). Overall, excellent figures help consolidate the information provided. Also, not sure if that blank space is meant to be there but awesome work!

  • The information is easy to follow and understand, I like the layout and the pictures made it more attracted. However, explain the symptoms in a different way than diagram would make it clearer.

  • The layout and information is great for the target audience. However, referring to and explaining the diagrams would help a bit more in understanding the concepts. The flow of the blog is great as well and is easy to follow.

  • Information is easy to read and flows really well! the overall theme is also engaging and made it even more interesting. I would suggest however to maybe explain the “What are the proteins in the venom and how do they work?” section in a way that is more simple and elaborate with the diagram that you have attached next to it to create more flow.

  • Great effort. The blog is very engaging and informative. The inclusion of more diagrams and media may help in communication of several concepts discussed but overall the blog is well written and concise.

  • The layout and information is great for the target audience. However, referring to and explaining the diagrams would help a bit more in understanding the concepts. The flow of the blog is great as well and is easy to follow.

  • Information layout and design is friendly to the eye. The information is easy to follow and retains attention. Images and charts used are helpful and assist the other information.

  • hey,
Really Cute pictures, they are eye catching. Really engaging introduction. It still is a bit complicated in the ” what are the proteins in the venom” section. Maybe it would be helpful to describe what an enzyme and antigen is in a sentence. Also maybe throw in a bit of colour in the flow diagram at the bottom to make it stand out. other then that it looks and sounds amazing. Good luck.

  • I like your intention with this blog, it is very unique with your analogy and reference to Jurassic Park.
The analogy you mention the term ovipositor, a term that a lot of people wouldn’t be familiar with, so make sure you explain or put in brackets what this term is.

This blog uses a lot of scientific jargon which I think should be cut down in order for this blog to reach a broader audience (which is the intent of this task). In saying this, these scientific terms are explained however, it would be better if there was less of them in order to not scare away readers.

I love that you keep a very fun, enthusiastic, colloquial tone without and not just at the beginning of the blog.

I like the use of the symptoms flow chart, however it should be smaller so you can focus more on some treatment methods as this seems very brief.
The reference list is quite impressive also. I
