Are you receiving all of your Canvas notifications? Follow these simple steps to ensure that when you make an announcement or send an email through Canvas, a copy of your message is sent to your UTS inbox.
Step 1 & 2: Go to your Account in Canvas
Go to Account [1] in the Global Navigation menu in Canvas and then open Notifications [2].
Step 3: Find Announcement Created by You
In your Account Notification Settings, scroll down the list until you find Announcement Created by You [3]. It’s not far down the list under the sub-heading: Course Activities. Notifications for this will be off by default.
Step 4: Change the setting to Notify immediately
In Announcement Created by You, you can adjust you preference for how frequently you want to be notified. We recommend you change this to Notify immediately.
Step 5: Do the same for Conversations
Under the Conversations subheading, find Conversations Created by Me and change the preference to Notify immediately.
In account notification settings Conversations refers to any message sent via Canvas Inbox.
What does Notify immediately mean?
According to Canvas documentation, notifications set to Notify immediately may be delayed by up to one hour. To prevent users from being spammed by multiple notifications in a short amount of time, some notifications may be temporarily held in case you want to make additional changes. In the case of Announcements, the delay should not be more than 5-10 minutes but this could be more if you have added file attachments.
