The following resource will provides a step by step guide to setting up a quiz shell, adding questions from a question bank and, if required, randomising the questions using question groups.
Follow the instructions in the resource Create questions for online exams in Canvas if you have not already set up your question banks.
A question group enables questions to be selected randomly. You can add multiple question groups to a quiz. This gives each student a unique experience of the quiz, with questions that are different to those of their peers. This minimises opportunities for cheating to occur.
For each question group you create, you can specify the number of questions which will be randomly pulled from an existing question bank for students to respond to. All the questions in a question group are worth the same number of marks.
1. Navigate to your exam site in Canvas.
2. Select ‘Quizzes’ from the left hand course navigation menu.
