The UTS Video Meetups are our community of practice where academics and learning designers discuss educational videos. For our fifteenth event, we are excited to be once again hosting a cross-institutional community of practice event focused on educational media. Missed out on our last cross-institutional event? Lights! Camera! Lightboard! Using lightboards for learning and teaching
Nicolene Lottering from Bond University
Dr Nicolene Lottering is an Assistant Professor in Medicine and the Science and Scholarship Domain Lead at Bond University, with teaching experience at undergraduate and graduate levels in anatomy, neuroscience and medical imaging in allied health and medical programs across Australia. Nicolene’s educational passions are in Generation Z engagement and technology-enhanced learning using modern digital tools, gamification, and student partnerships. She was the first medical educator to utilize the ‘lightboard’ for developing drawing-to-learn video productions on YouTube and has attained credibility as a recipient of institutional, national and international teaching awards, including the 2022 Osmosis (Elsevier) Raise the Line Anatomy and Physiology Grand Prize. Tim Harland is a Learning Media Producer in the Educational Innovation Media Team at The University of Sydney. He enjoys the challenge of creating high-quality educational videos for a diverse range of schools, faculties and courses across the university.
Jon Hunter is a Learning Media Producer in the Educational Innovation team at the University of Sydney. He is passionate about filmmaking, electronic art, music and audio production. Anatomy of Social Media: using Instagram as a platform for student engagement
Joyce El-Haddad from The University of New South Wales
Joyce El-Haddad is a lecturer in anatomy and histology at the Medicine and Health Faculty at The University of New South Wales. She has received multiple teaching awards and nominations for her outstanding contributions to education. She is pursuing a PhD focusing on medical ethics, specifically informed consent and the use of fetal and embryological remains. Joyce also supervises honour projects related to ultrasound in anatomy education, body donation attitudes, and the inclusion of intersex individuals in medical programs. Joyce actively engages with students and the public through her social media presence, collaborating on projects to increase health literacy and support patient outreach with organisations such as Beat Bladder Cancer Australia. Jackson Shoobert from University of New England
Jackson Shoobert is a Digital Technician specialising in 3D reconstruction of learning artifacts are the University of New England. He has spent years working to digitise collections across UNE’s campus and has been involved in some exciting multimedia projects incorporating 360 virtual tours and 3D models.
