- Tuesday, 15 August 2017
12:00 pm - 12:45 pm - learning.futures Academic Hub
This Techo Tuesday explores captioning for videos, online chat rooms and live situations such as classrooms, events and meetings. It will cover definitions and distinctions between open captions, closed captions, live captioning, subtitles, transcribers and captioning providers that we use at UTS, and helpful online tools. As UTS supports captioning as an important component of accessibility and inclusion, learn how you can build this innovative technique into your work practice.
TEDxSydney speaker and Equity and Diversity Unit accessibility specialist, Sarah Houbolt, co-presents this Techo Tuesday with Naomi Malone. Sarah coordinates central staff and student accessibility policy across the University and is a user of assistive technology. Naomi is a PhD candidate with Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, researching the history of deaf education. Previously Naomi worked for Macquarie University, coordinating the MQ Hearing Strategy for Learning and Teaching. This Techo Tuesday is an exciting opportunity to ask questions and share information about best practice and innovative solutions.
