The Comments Box tool allows you to embed a discussion anywhere in Canvas which uses the Rich Content Editor.
A poll can be embedded anywhere Canvas supports the Rich Content Editor. While editing content:
A Comments Box will be embedded in the content area.
In addition to embedding a basic discussion, you can configure other settings, which will be displayed beneath the discussion prompt box.
When this option is selected, you will be able to see the names next to each comment. If this is not select, posts will be anonymous. This option can not be changed once posts have been made.
When this option is selected, it allows the teaching staff and students to reply to others’ discussion posts.
When this option is selected, it blocks all discussion replies until the student writes and submits their own reply to the prompt. Use this option if you would like students to form their own opinion and response before being influenced by other students.
When this option is selected a user can like other users’ posts. Selecting this option triggers more options:
Edit a Comments Box by clicking on the pencil at the top right of the poll – this will take you back to edit the question and settings.
After a Comments Box has been embedded, students can view the embedded discussion in a Canvas and participate by commenting, replying, or liking other comments. If a comment is inappropriate, Subject Coordinators are able to remove it by selecting the three dots to the right of the comment and selecting ‘delete’.
