As Canvas subject sites roll over each session, it is important to clone your H5P content at the beginning of the session. This keeps your H5P content and activity report separate for each session, making re-use of content easier and providing clearer insight into each cohort’s analytics.
You can access H5P using the Rich Content Editor in Canvas. The Rich Content Editor is visible when you edit any page, assignment, discussion, quiz question or announcement in Canvas. When you click the H5P button in the Rich Content Editor, the H5P user interface appears.
If you wish to clone your own content, select ‘My Content’. If you wish to clone content shared with you, select ‘Shared with me’. You can also select ‘All Content’ to see both types of content.
After you have located the content you wish to clone, click on the ‘More options’ button (the three dots on the right-hand side) for your selected content and select ‘Clone’ from the dropdown menu to clone the content.
The title of the clone content is labelled ‘Clone of’, followed by the existing name of the content you have cloned. You can rename it to reflect the teaching session e.g. ‘Spring 2021 Video Quiz’. After renaming you can ‘Clone and Insert’ the H5P content in the page you are working in.
If you select ‘Clone and Insert’ the H5P content is inserted in the current location of Canvas from where the Rich Content Editor was accessed and the H5P user interface is automatically closed.
If you select ‘Clone’ instead of ‘Clone and Insert’, you will see the newly cloned content in the H5P user interface. Select ‘Edit’ to rename the content.
The content can be added to the page by clicking the ‘Insert’ button. If you don’t need the content right now, you can close the H5P window and return later to insert it.
Remember to save your edits by clicking ‘Save’ when you are finished.
