Use H5P activities to provide rapid formative feedback to students. This helps students check that they are on the right track in a subject.
Feedback in H5P is automated. Well-crafted automated feedback can save teacher time and respond to each student’s own pace of learning.
While all H5P activities tell students if they get an answer correct or incorrect, there are options to enter customised feedback. Different activity types in H5P have different feedback options.

Entering feedback in activities
Below is a table of H5P activities by feedback type. Click on each activity for a tutorial showing how to enter feedback for that activity type.

Tips
- Go beyond correct/incorrect – explain why an answer is correct or incorrect
- Provide hints – prompt students with questions, or refer them to other subject materials, to help them answer correctly
- Let students retry activities – the option to let students retry a H5P activity can be turned on or off; we recommend leaving it on so students can act upon feedback given to them.
- Facilitate self-directed learning – when writing feedback, pose questions that help students reflect on their answers; make clear the links between the H5P activity and learning outcomes/topics, and provide worked examples or model answers for students to compare to their own work where appropriate.
Can’t see where to enter feedback in H5P?
Some activity types provide obvious ways to include feedback; for those that don’t, click on ‘Behavioral settings’ or ‘Text overrides and translations’ to override default feedback text.
