Industrialised societies consume far more resources than can be replenished by the planet. This resource guides students to discover their ecological footprint, explore practical actions to reduce ecological impact, and foster awareness within our communities.
Students might encounter resources addressing the carbon footprint instead of the ecological footprint, which is fine. The ecological footprint encompasses a broader measure of human impact on the environment, including carbon emissions, while a carbon footprint specifically focuses on the amount of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases an individual, organisation, or activity produces.
If you teach at UTS, you can also adapt a version of these resources from our module in Canvas Commons (search for ‘Sustainability module’).
How many Earths does your lifestyle require? Invite students to calculate their ecological footprint.
Students identify strategies to reduce their personal impact and develop a communications strategy for social media to promote the action that most appeals to them.
