Feedback is key for knowing how to change practice in teaching. You can use it to understand what’s working well and not so well, and to see where changes have been effective or where further adjustment is needed.
The resources in this collection offer some interpretations for questions where students may have given low or medium scores in the EFS and SFS. Constructed with the contributions of staff experienced in teaching and tutoring, the resources include some reflection questions and actionable approaches linked to interpretations.
The resources are also a guideline, with suggestions and prompts for potential changes you could make, or further questions to ask about how students experience your subject. As you explore these, you could broadly follow the process below:
- Focus on a particular question that you would like to understand;
- Consider the interpretations and reflection questions for that question. Look for any connections to the current design and experience of your subject.
- Consider what additional information you have to support your interpretation, e.g. other interactions and input from your students.
- Decide if you need further cross referencing to validate the interpretation, or begin the process of planning change.
