Designing and facilitating effective group assessment can be challenging at the best of times, but in the remote learning environment, the challenges for both staff and students are amplified.
Please join Dr Jeannette Durick, Associate Professor Valerie Gay and Lucy Allen who will share their approach to designing and facilitating group assessment in the remote learning environment, providing their interpretation of challenges and opportunities as well as reflections on lessons learned.
Panel
Dr Jeannette Durick is a lecturer in Human-Centred Design, working within the School of Computer Science, FEIT, who is teaching third year capstone students. Her students are located in Australia and overseas, and are leveraging Lean UX and interaction design methods to produce a Minimum Viable Product as their final project.
Associate Professor Valerie Gay from the School of Electrical and Data Engineering, FEIT, teaches data engineering design to third year students in a ‘studio-style’ with extensive group and peer-to-peer feedback and discussion, where students work in groups to design and prototype future applications of data-intensive systems that benefit society.
Lucy Allen is an Associate Lecturer in the Faculty of Transdisciplinary Innovation and is currently coordinating a Capstone subject in The Bachelor of Technology and Innovation. In this subject, students work in ever-evolving groups as they develop projects that tackle real-world, complex challenges. With a focus on transdisciplinary and reflexive approaches, the subject involves significant peer/mentor support, feedback and management.
