The Course Home Page is the first page your students will see when they enter your Canvas course. It is also the page they will see when they click on the Home link on the Course Navigation Menu.
The following video (3:25 min) shows you how to set and customise the Canvas Course Home Page to best suit the needs of your subject.
Your Canvas Course Home Page has three sections. The Course Navigation Menu is on the left of the page, while a sidebar is on the right of the page. The main section of the page is customisable.
You can choose to use one of five layouts for the main section of the Course Home Page:
You can also choose to display your recent announcements on this page, so your students are up to date with all your announcements (see [2] in the screenshot below).
The sidebar on your Canvas Course Home Page is similar to that of your Canvas Dashboard. In your Canvas Home Page, the sidebar shows information that is specific to your subject.
At the top of the sidebar are tools to manage your Canvas Course site (see [1] in the screenshot above). The bottom of the sidebar (see [2] in the screenshot above) contains the To-Do list for your subject (for example, tasks which require marking). Depending on the layout you have you chosen for your Course Home Page, it may contain other sections.
