Once students begin interacting with the subject online, facilitators can focus on moderating and providing feedback as students engage with the weekly content and assignments. This requires a lighter touch yet also demands vigilance as some students will need to be drawn out whilst others may dominate. Teaching strategies may need to be refined and more personal as students take on active content discovery for themselves and learn at different paces.
Offering varied ways of providing feedback, asking probing questions, engaging in reflective activities, and using video to communicate with a class will all enhance your online teaching. Instead of just covering content for a student, turn your focus to unpacking and applying content with the students. Remember, your personal perspective, in-depth knowledge of the subject, and connection to the learner is what brings the course to life.
