Data on student achievement of UTS CILOs or PLOs can be exported from a Canvas subject site.
Enabling the Learning Mastery Gradebook
- To download Canvas Outcomes data from a Canvas subject site, you must first enable the Learning Mastery Gradebook. To do this, navigate to your Canvas course settings and select the ‘Feature Options’ tab.
- Look for the Learning Mastery Markbook row. In the ‘State’ column, ensure that the enabled button (the green tick) is selected. If it is not, click on the disabled button (the red cross) to reveal the menu. Click on ‘Enabled’ to ensure that the Learning Mastery Gradebook can be viewed in your subject site.
Exporting Outcomes Data at Subject Level
- Navigate to the Canvas Gradebook. Click on the ‘Gradebook’ dropdown menu and select ‘Learning Mastery’.
- To export subject-level Outcomes data from the Learning Mastery Gradebook, click on ‘Export report’.
- The Excel file containing a record of your students’ achievement of UTS CILOs or PLOs should download automatically.
The spreadsheet will contain the students’ names, their student numbers, their Canvas Outcomes score and the Canvas Outcomes at which ‘learning mastery’ (the achievement of the CILOS or PLO) is reached.
Canvas Outcomes Scores
At UTS, for assurance of learning purposes, Canvas Outcomes Scores equate to CILO or PLO achievement as follows:
5 = Exceeds expectations
3 = Meets expectations
0 = Below expectations
