    12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
  • Hybrid format (further details provided upon registration)

Join us in this hybrid workshop to learn about open textbook publishing and how it can benefit academics and students. UTS academics produce a plethora of journal articles, book chapters, and conference papers, but few publish books due to high costs and publisher restrictions. However, many academics are finding success in creating their own textbooks by joining the open textbook publishing movement.

In this workshop, you will hear from Associate Professor Amanda White who created an open textbook and made it freely available online using a Creative Commons licence. Infused by her teacher’s voice, indigenous knowledge, the Australian context and interactive learning, Amanda is close to publishing Accounting and Accountability in its first Australian edition which will benefit more than 2000 first-year accounting students.

Join this workshop to hear Amanda’s approach to how she developed the first Australian open textbook Accounting and Accountability.

During this one-hour workshop, you will learn about:

  • The process of creating open textbooks
  • Tools, technologies and resources that facilitate the development of open textbooks
  • The benefits of community along the process

This hybrid event will offer catering, so please let us know if you have any dietary requirements.
