The theme of this year’s Learning and Teaching forum is Putting the human at the heart of our blended future. On Friday 2nd December, we will be coming together to explore, showcase and experiment with ways to teach and innovate using different modes. These modes form a continuum ranging from in-person through to fully online with blended and hybrid variations in between.
Online or on-campus – it’s your choice
Also very much on theme is the mode in which the forum will be delivered. When you register, you can opt for either online attendance or joining in on campus. The forum will see a return to real-life connection (and real-life afternoon teas and drinks!) for the learning and teaching community, but the presentations, panels and keynote can also be watched in the comfort of your own home. This essentially means that the majority of the concurrent sessions will be in hybrid mode, with one stream being offered as online only.
For on-campus attendees, the opening and closing sessions will be held in the Building 7 Green Theatre, while concurrent sessions will be held in various spaces in Building 11. Online attendees can access their Zoom link in the program.
Hear from our new DVC
The day will begin with a keynote address from Professor Kylie Readman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education and Students). She will be delivering a speech on ‘Rethinking teaching for human-centred learning – what we think we know.’
Several streams – decisions, decisons
Along with a student panel and a technology showcase that focuses on embedding inclusive practices, there will be several concurrent streams – so you’ll be spoilt for choice on the day, with over 50 presentations on offer. This year, we will be including two student presentation streams – getting insight into the student experience from their perspective is always a popular aspect of this forum.
Themes this year include:
- Active and collaborative engagement
- Access, belonging and wellbeing
- Modes of delivery
- Partnering with students
- Sustainability, reflexive praxis and global citizenship
- Team-based teaching
The long and the short of it
