The UTS Tech Festival returns to campus this month, running Monday 17 – Friday 28 June, and promises a fantastic and diverse range of tech events that will bring together students, academics, industry partners, and like-minded tech enthusiasts.

Now in it’s third year, the UTS Tech Festival has grown significantly since its humble beginnings and offers a packed program of over 40 different events. This expanded format provides even more opportunities for different tech fields to shine, with an increased presence from both Civil Engineering and Games Development.

The majority of events at the festival are led by students, who are taking the initiative to run events designed for their peers. In this post we’ll go over some highlights, but remember to check the full program at the official UTS Tech Fest website.

Showcases

Step into a showcase to see some of the impressive work created by students in FEIT. This year you can see showcases from AI, Games, Robotics, Software, Cybersecurity, Civil and Environmental Engineering. The showcases see teams of students present a project to academics and industry experts, allowing for live feedback and discussion, with prizes up for grabs for the most outstanding projects. This will be the first year that you can see presentations from Cybersecurity at the festival.

There’s also the Techfest x EcoRhythms Art Exhibition happening on Thursday 20 June, where you can see innovative student art made from recycled materials.

Hands-on events for students

There are a huge number of hackathons and career-focused events this year, many of which are sponsored by industry partners. These events give students an excellent opportunity to learn, collaborate and network. Students can check the program for these events which are marked for UTS students only.

Awards night

The festival will finish up on Friday 28 June with the annual Awards Night, where students are recognised for their achievements.
