It feels like only yesterday that the UTS Research Team took over the LX.lab for a month to talk about all things related to research! Now they’re launching their very own RES Hub space from 3rd to 6th May.

Discover the new spaces

Research Excellence and Support Hub (RES Hub) is a new physical space on level 5 of UTS Central (Buildings 1 and 2) for the research community to collaborate, network and learn.

RES Hub physical has a 36-seat event space that can be used for professional development events, seminars, and forums, and is supported by state-of-the-art audio-visual technology. The RES Hub event space is located on the fifth floor of the UTS Tower (CB01.05.007).

Complementing this are working spaces and a terrace where you can relax and network. There’s also a collaboration room for virtual meetings, where researchers will be able to conduct Zoom calls. This part of RES Hub is located on the fifth floor of UTS Central (CB02.05.250).

There will also be a new recording studio being unveiled at the end of an upcoming workshop on editing with iMovie…

Register for the launch events

Take a look at the events the LX.lab and TACT teams from IML are hosting as part of the RES Hub launch below and get across the full program of events.

May 5th: Q&A with research integrated teachers

Join us for a Q&A with the ‘UTS Medal for Excellence in Teaching and Research’ recipients to hear about their projects and how they inspire student learning through research and teaching. One of the panellists is Christina Ho, who recently talked to us about her her research into the ‘tiger parent’ stereotype, and the twin motivations driving Asian migrant parents’ approaches to education. Register here.

May 6th: Editing with iMovie

Learn basic video editing techniques on Macbook for all your needs (Windows users should check out our Windows Video editor event the following week). No equipment necessary – we will provide MacBooks and footage for you to work on. Then the hosts will show you the brand new self-recording studio opening in the RES Hub – be the first one to use it! Register here.

May 6th: Research-inspired learning through teamwork

This session from the TACT team explores a research-inspired learning approach to project work to enhance student agency and teamwork – their current Hot Topic. Register here.
