We’re in the home stretch of 2023 now, with just over two months to go until the UTS holiday closure period. Between now and then, there are a number of opportunities to connect with your colleagues in the learning and teaching community, hear about the innovations and initiatives that have been happening throughout the year, and find out about tips to implement in your own practice for 2024. Check out our list of upcoming events in October and November to mark in your calendars before we all enjoy a well-deserved break.

Good WIL hunting with PEPN
PEPN (Professional Education and Practice Network) will be exploring quality partnerships for work-integrated learning at their next meetup, with presentations from Annette Dockerty (Program Lead for SME Engagement) and Alexandra Fransen (Sustainable Development Goals Project Manager). Unpack leadership with the Learning Design Meetup
Join us online with guests Tam Nguyen (Director, Education Design and Digital Development at UNSW Business School), Amanda Lizier (Lecturer in the School of International Studies and Education, UTS) and Kelly Pattison (Co-Founder and Director of Circular Learning). At this meetup we’ll explore what it means to be a leader in learning design, how to chart a course in that direction, and the skills that help learning designers prepare for leadership positions.
Catch up on what’s happening in educational media
Book in to the 16th UTS Video Meetup for an hour of discussion about educational media at UTS, new developments in video and DIY tips. This session will include a series of brief presentations, followed by a Q&A and open discussion. All academics and staff of all skill levels are welcome.
Find free resources for your subject
Every semester, you know that your colleagues create amazing teaching and learning materials in Canvas, H5P, Kaltura and Mentimeter. But where can you find these so you can reuse or adapt and potentially reshare them for learning and teaching? Come along to this session to learn how you can access these resources for your subject.
2023 UTS Learning and Teaching Forum: Shaping the future of learning and teaching
As the higher education landscape remains fluid and dynamic, we continue to adapt, innovate and reshape our learning and teaching practices. This forum provides space for staff and students to come together to share learning from our current practice and innovations, explore new ideas, and discuss how we respond to new imperatives. Bringing these together in dialogue allows us to explore and plan how we might shape our future direction across key areas of learning, teaching and curriculum in positive and productive ways.
A core focus of the forum is on the future of assessment, and our keynote speaker will be Professor David Boud, Emeritus Professor (UTS), Alfred Deakin Professor and Foundation Director of the Centre for Research on Assessment and Digital Learning (Deakin University), Professor of Work and Learning (Middlesex University, London).
