Have you been teaching your subject for a while, and you know it could be better, but you’re unsure how to do it? Or perhaps you’re new to teaching at UTS, and looking for some help to understand and apply sound principles of teaching practice to your subject? Maybe you haven’t found time to make the changes needed to take your student engagement to the next level, and need some extra motivation to get there?

If this sounds like you, then Enhancing Teaching@UTS is a great place to start, and you won’t be learning alone. This new professional learning program is designed for UTS academics to help you develop the knowledge, capability and confidence to teach subjects.

Designed for teaching at UTS

This introductory program will equip you with the ability to reflect on how your students approach learning using multiple perspectives: yourself, colleagues, and the learning and teaching literature, as well as socio-cultural-economic and educational perspectives. You’ll consider the factors that impact on your students’ approach to learning and discover how the UTS approach might encourage active and engaged learning.

As you explore the challenges and opportunities in your own teaching context, you’ll be encouraged to reflect on and explore the approaches you’d like to take in a collegial environment.

7 perks of the program

  1. Reflect on the opportunities and challenges within your teaching context and identify areas of inquiry that interest you
  2. Consider the alignment between your teaching practice, the key elements of effective and inclusive teaching and the UTS distinctive approach
  3. Apply design principles to the development and teaching of your subjects to enhance student learning
  4. Enhance your feedback and assessment strategies to promote student success
  5. Explore tools, methods and resources to engage students using technology
  6. Develop strategies for evaluating and reflecting on your practice
  7. Be connected with a community across the disciplines and the Education Portfolio to promote ongoing support and collaboration
